Human Resources Certification Oregon | OR

Students also have the option to obtain human resources certification in Oregon. It is not required to obtain certification in addition to a degree, but it is usually recommended. Obtaining this certification will help build your resume, show your prospective employers that you are serious about your career, provide you with additional training and will show that you have the ability to meet national standards related to human resources. There are two main options to obtain human resources certification in Oregon: PHR and SPHR.

PHR (Professional in Human Services) certification is the first level that can be obtained. In order to be eligible for certification, you must have held a job in the field for a certain number of years. If you do not have a bachelor’s degree, you must have four years of experience. A bachelor’s degree and master’s degree require two and one years of experience.

If you are interested in HR certification in Oregon, the higher level of certification is SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources). The required years of service for this certification are 4 years (master’s degree), 5 years (bachelor’s degree) or 7 years (less than a bachelor’s degree).

Obtaining certification will confirm that you have acquired all of the skills needed to be successful in the role of a human services representative. It shows you have met national standards regarding how to evaluate applicants, train new employees, manage payroll and maintain employee files. Higher levels will confirm that you have the ability to create a positive working environment and you can create and manage rewards programs.
