Obtaining human resources certification in New Mexico is something else you should consider if you want a career in HR. Two main levels of certification are available: Professional (PHR) and Senior Professional (SPHR). Many HR professionals begin working to gain practical experience while they also pursue their certification online. The reason behind this is that there is an eligibility requirement that is based on the number of years of experience you have. This requirement is reduced if you have a higher level HR degree in New Mexico. Working in the HR profession and continuing your education online will allow you to have income, gather the necessary experience and work toward certification all at the same time.
You are eligible for HR certification in New Mexico at the PHR level with just one year of experience when you have a master’s degree. The requirement is raised to two years with a bachelor’s degree and four years if you have an associate’s degree (or anything else less than a four year degree).
Human resources certification in New Mexico at the SPHR level can be obtained with four years experience if you have a master’s degree. The required experience is increased to five years if you have a bachelor’s degree and seven if you don’t have a four year degree.
Companies may or may not require this certification as a condition of employment. However, the certification is recommended even if it is not required. It allows you to build your resume, continue your education and proves that you are committed to a career in human resources.
